The message from Micah to Judah is two-foldWho was Micah?

Micah was a prophet to Judah at the same time as the prophet Isaiah.

What does two-fold mean? It means it has two parts.

Judgement and hope are clearly both foretold: What does this mean?

Just like Isaiah’s book, the two things talked much about in Micah are judgment for disobedience and hope for the future. Foretold or foretell means to tell what will happen in the future. Seven hundred years before the Savior came, Micah foretold the Savior would be born in Bethlehem. This is in Micah 5:2.

What does the Lord require as on this earth we trodSay this in different words.

What does God want us to do while we live here on earth?

To do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God: What are examples of how to do each of these: do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God.

You can talk about many ways to do these. Here is a general answer to get you started on specific ways:

Do justice–standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

Love mercy–Do what is best for those who have done wrong instead of taking out anger or revenge.

Walk humbly with your God–Pray this verse daily and stay connected to God through the Word and prayer and fellowship with other believers so God can speak to you.

“Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

Preparing: Micah addresses problems in the hearts of God’s chosen people and lets them know what he desires. The Savior is the only One who can change hearts. This book, as most of the major and minor prophets, shows the great need for our hearts to be changed.

Pictures: Micah speaks directly of the coming King of the Jews and tells where he will be born. Remember when the three wise men came following the star and went to King Herod in Jerusalem to ask where the king of the Jews was to be born? The chief priest and teachers of the law gave Herod the answer for the wisemen by quoting Micah 5:2:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”
