Sing
Genesis
©Carolyn Randall
Can be sung to the tune:
Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush
Genesis tell us about the beginning,
God's wondrous creation is marred with man sinning.
From Adam to Joseph the stories unfold,
And God's promised Blessing through Israel's fortold.
Adam and Eve and Cain and Able,
Noah, the flood, the tower of Babel,
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob the schemer,
The twelve sons of Israel and Joseph the dreamer.
Sing with Taylor, Blake and Margaret!

Wondrous Creation: What does wondrous creation mean?
(Wonderful) You can go into as much detail as you want—6 days—what was created on each day—but you do not need to. The main point here is to know that the creation was wonderful—perfect—nothing bad in it.
Marred with man sinning: What does marred mean?
To mar something means to damage or spoil it. Man’s disobedience to God led to all the bad things on the earth —sickness, weeds, animals and people hurting each other. Most of all, a relationship with God was broken; and all the rest of the Bible is about God’s plan to bring man back to Him.
Promised blessing through Israel: What is the promised blessing through Israel?
God chose Abraham whose decedents became the nation of Israel, the Jewish people. Jesus, God’s Son who was born to a Jewish woman would bless the whole world.
From Adam to Joseph the stories unfold: What are the stories in Genesis?
Sing through the second verse of the poem and you will be naming 10 of them!
What does it mean that the stories unfold?
They are told or revealed to you.
Preparing: This book tells us about how God created us and desires to have a close relationship with us, and about how we became separated from God. More under resources.
Pictures: Joseph was rejected by his brothers, and yet God used him to save his family from dying in starvation. This points to the rejection of the Jesus the Savior and His coming to save us from our sin. (Many more in other stories from Genesis-see resources)
From Adam to Joseph the stories unfold: The Jesus Storybook Bible pp. 18-83 have stories beautifully told from Genesis.
Promised blessing through Israel: What the Bible is All about Bible Handbook for Kids, p.26-27 or What the Bible Is All About For Young Explorers pp. 33-34 tells about God’s very first mention of a Savior in Genesis 3:15 and that the promised Savior would come through Abraham. It also gives other pictures of the Savior.
