1 and 2 Chronicles helped the remnant see
That God had not forsaken them in their captivity.
Their history from God's point of view
Till Cyrus's decree,
Brings hope that David's line will reign
And display God's glory.

1 and 2 Chronicles helped the remnant see: Who are the remnant?
The remnant are the Jewish people from Judah who returned to Jerusalem after the 70 year captivity.
That God had not forsaken them in their captivity: What does forsaken mean?
It means God had not left them alone. Remember how we sang in I and 2 Kings about Israel and Judah being carried into captivity? This book talks about this same event, but it is told in a way to show them that God was with them all through this, and He is faithful to all his promises. They may have felt forsaken, or left all alone, but this book tells that God was always there caring about all they were going through.
Their history from God’s point for view: How is this point of view different?
I and 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Kings tell about the same events as I and 2 Chronicles, But 1 and 2 Chronicles focuses on the spiritual life of God’s people, likely written by Ezra the priest, showing God’s faithfulness to his people and talking much about the history of the Temple of God.
Till Cyrus’s decree: Who is Cyrus and what is this decree?
Cyrus the king of Persia and 2 Chronicles ends with him saying to the Jewish people that they may go back to Jerusalem and rebuild the house/temple of the LORD.
“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all His people, may the Lord his God be with him, and let him go up!’” 2 Chronicles 36:23 ~NASB
Gives hope that David’s line will reign and display God’s glory: What does hope that David’s line will reign mean?
The promise that one from David’s line, which means a descendant of David, is the promised King who will reign forever and ever is repeated. 1 Chronicles 17:14
Prepare: This book shows from the very beginning of time, God is always at work making a way to be with His people and records again his plan to send a Savior through David’s line.
Picture: The importance of the temple is emphasized because the Temple or House of the Lord was the dwelling place of God among his people in the Old Testament, and the entire temple set up shows what the Savior will do for us.
